Activities - Page 2 of 3 - AlterNativa3

This weekend, 5, 6 and 7 April, we participated in the first meeting of confluence to prepare the World Social Forum of Transformative Economies (WSF-TE), which will take place in 2020 in Barcelona.

More than 300 people from 40 different backgrounds participated.

It was a working meeting with organisations linked to transformative economies, networks and movements at local and international level. The aim of this first meeting was to get to know each other among the different actors, to establish the challenges to be discussed and the process towards the FSMET 2020. Also, to start agreeing on the work plans, the governance model and to validate the next steps to be taken.

It works around four axes: feminist economies, agro-ecological movement and food sovereignty, commons and solidarity economy.

In addition to AlterNativa3, many fair trade organisations have participated, such as LaCoordi (Coordinadora catalana de comerç just i finances ètiques), La Coordinadora estatal de comercio justo i organizaciones de países productores, among others that, like our cooperative, are willing to work together, under the standards of the social economy, so that fair trade reaches more and more people.

We already have our batteries charged to start 2019 with lots of energy and lots of news and surprises! Are you ready?

The Xarxa Escoles project is already underway this academic year, and we continue with great enthusiasm and novelties to continue transforming citizens into agents of change to achieve a fairer and more supportive world. In June the Montnegre school (La Batlloria, Sant Celoni) and the three schools of ZER Baix Montseny finished a course full of Fair Trade.

The four schools in Baix Montseny have been working on it throughout the school year through the Xarxa Escoles pel Comerç Just project. The aim of this project is to introduce Fair Trade in the curriculum or in the annual programme of the schools. The aim is to generate critical awareness of the consequences of current international trade and, at the same time, to offer an alternative: Fair Trade. Activities and awareness-raising activities and dynamics are included with the pupils and activities where Catalan schools can directly relate to schools in Nicaragua in order to share realities and experiences. In this way, the roots and involvement of the educational community are enriched.

A total of 27 training activities have been carried out with a Learning and Service perspective. The students have made Fair Trade T-shirts and chocolates and, at the same time, they have learnt about the benefits of responsible consumption for everyone. This theme has also been worked on in the subjects and has also been present in the school's traditional festivities.

We have been able to see how the students of Montnegre explained to their mayor what Fair Trade is, every morning a song about Fair Trade was sung in Pont Trencat and l'Alzinar. In Puig Drau they taught the younger age groups what Fair Trade is.

One of the most exciting activities has been the exchange of letters between schools in Nicaragua and Catalonia, an activity that has brought Fair Trade closer to everyone, has allowed them to have a cultural exchange and, at the same time, to work on writing and writing.

This project is coordinated by AlterNative3with the support of the Agència Catalana de Cooperació and the Diputació de Barcelona.

The FIREPEMU (Fair of Musical Pedagogical Resources) is a platform that promotes research and dissemination in the field of education, with the aim of updating and improving the quality of teaching through music. A space for training and exchange of ideas, knowledge and pedagogical tools. An environment where professionals, companies and institutions present their projects and make their resources known. The ideal framework for reflection on music as an educational tool and its involvement in our social and cultural reality.

Alternativa3 will be together with Carles Cuberes presenting the activity "Learn Fair Trade with Music". This is an activity to learn about the social side of music, in particular the basic principles of Fair Trade, through the songs of the album "Karibu", as well as basic notions of audio recording and editing. Aimed at primary school teachers (from 8 to 12 years old).

You will find us on Saturday 6 October at the auditorium theatre in Llinars del Vallés at 10:45h.

We invite you to enjoy the event and share your experience with us through our social networks: Instagram, Facebook y Twitter.

From AlterNativa3, we collaborate in the improvement of the environment and the awareness of the population, in the consumption of products made with ingredients and under the principles of Fair Trade. To learn a little more about the concept of Fair Trade, what are its principles and how to put it into practice, we propose a perfect plan, Fair Coffee and Fair Trade Exhibition, sounds good, doesn't it?

When and where will the exhibition take place?

From 20 to 28 September. Eight days dedicated exclusively to understanding a little more about what Fair Trade is based on and how a 100% Fair Trade product is made. The exhibition will be held at the Espai Cultural Kursaal (C/ Masia, 39 - 08110 Montcada i Reixac - Barcelona).

What is the exhibition about?

In this case, the exhibition shows the process of making coffee in a traditional way, without using chemical products that cause it to lose its natural essence. Products with such a seal are of quality and do not violate the rights of the artisans who produce them.

This event is part of the activities on Fair Trade and Ethical Banking that are being carried out during this last year and help to know in more detail the world that surrounds Fair Trade. We hope you have the opportunity to enjoy it and share it with us through our social networks: Instagram, Facebook y Twitter. If you want to know more about the principles of Fairtrade, you can visit our blog: What is Fair Trade?

As every year at AlterNativa3 we give you the opportunity to get to know us and enjoy Fair Trade from a different point of view, from the inside. Day 20 May we organise the open day at Ctra. De Castellar, 526, Terrassa. We have prepared a host of activities and workshops not to be missed.
