-Made in India by the fair trade cooperative Fair Gift. Fair Gift: is a fair trade cooperative in Chennai, capital of the state of Tamil Nadu, which has been producing handicrafts and textiles since 2013.

-With the purchase of this bag you contribute to the women who make it to have better living conditions thanks to the fruits of their labour.

-Kalamkari: it is made using the Kalamkari technique, an ancient printing technique. Only 100% natural dyes are used. The word Kalamkari comes from the Turkish word "kalam" which means "calamus", the tool used to make these prints.
Colours are obtained by boiling different plants, their roots, stems and/or flowers, depending on the colour to be extracted. There is only one exception that does not come from plants: black, which is extracted from iron.
The fabrics are painted by hand with the help of a pen (kama) or by woodcut. The outlines and motifs are drawn with a bamboo point dipped in a mixture of fermented jagré and water, then the vegetable dyes are applied one by one.
After each colour, the kalamkari is washed so that each fabric can undergo up to 20 washes. The whole process takes about 40 days.

-Practical: they fold up into the smaller bag for convenient carrying at all times.

-Reusable and ecofriendly.

Fair trade is an effective tool for eradicating the poverty and inequalities generated by conventional international trade. Working for gender equality, the eradication of child labour and paying a decent price to the people who grow our ingredients, who organise themselves in cooperatives and make decisions in a democratic way.

Our cooperative is committed to social responsibility policies in all areas: with the producer cooperatives, maintaining long-term relationships; with the consumer, offering maximum quality and transparency; and internally, with policies of family reconciliation, team decision-making, environmentally sustainable surroundings and gender equality. Working in AlterNativa3 allows us to take part in the construction of a better reality in which people are above economic profit.

The producing cooperatives cultivate the products according to traditional, environmentally friendly techniques. No chemicals or artificial additives, which are harmful to health and nature, are used in the further processing.
